25 Months Old!

2 Years, 1 Month Old

Hello Terrific Twos!!! So far, I think the first month of Colton being two has been fairly easy. We are still having trouble communicating with him, but other than him getting upset about that he usually behaves very good. We are working on not throwing toys and hitting, but he only occasionally does these things. He is finally starting to learn what "no" means and will usually stop when we tell him no. (Or at least he listens to daddy -- He knows daddy means business). However, he still needs to learn that mommy is in charge as well. Most of the time he just laughs at me and thinks that everything I do is funny. He continues to be a ball full of energy and he never slows down. He is babbling all the time and we joke often saying that when we does start talking that we won't be able to get a word in. We love him so much though and couldn't have asked for a better son.

Here are a few things we are going to start working with him on over the next few months:
  • Potty Training -- I'm dreading this, but I think I'm going to try maybe when he gets to be about 2 1/2. I've read a few things online where you potty train them for 3 solid days, so I think I'm going to try that approach. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.
  • Saying prayers at bedtime.
  • Saying the blessing before we eat.
  • Learning to walk beside mommy and daddy without running off.
  • Swimming -- He will be taking swim lessons starting next week.

Highlights from the past month:
  • His favorite toys this past month: Hot Wheels!!!

  • His favorite cartoons this month: He still LOVES Toy Story!! (He will say Duzz when he sees Buzz Lightyear)

  • His favorite foods this month: Chick fil A Hashbrowns, Applesauce, French Fries, Tortilla Chips, Cheese Puffs, and Enchiladas (Taco Casa)

  • His favorite activities: Playing in the sandbox, swinging outside, playing chase, and playing hide and seek with mommy

  • Currently a mini me of his Daddy!

  • Favorite Books this Month: Llama Llama Red Pajama, Toy Story

  • Babbling ALL the time!!! He literally starts babbling the second that he wakes up and doesn't quit until bedtime. We still have no clue what he is saying, but we love listening to his listen voice.

  • He is extremely smart and can figure out how to work just about anything and any toy.

  • Loves toothpaste!!! He got so upset with me the other night because I wouldn't give him the toothpaste to put on his toothbrush. He wanted to do it all by himself.

  • Still taking speech and special instructions class and is doing great.

  • He loves the following songs: Itsy Bitsy Spider, ABC's, If You're Happy and You Know It, Old McDonald, Little Indians, The Wheels on the Bus, Jesus Love Me

  • He can make all the movements to the song Zacheus.

  • Finished his last day at Mom's Morning Out this year at Northport Baptist Day Care.

  • Went swimming for the first time this year this past month. He loves it and really thinks that he is a fish!

  • He loves to play with daddy's guitar and will dance when daddy is playing it.

  • He still loves his bedtime routine and he gets so excited when we tell him it’s time for bed. He really thinks he is a big boy!! He is currently still in his crib, but we're hoping to move him to a big boy bed soon.

  • When I tell Colton it's time to go bye bye, he will try to find Millie and will just start babbling to her and will wave bye bye. "Bye Mil"

  • Weighs Approximately 35 pounds

  • Wears a size 6 Diaper.

  • He wears 2T and 3T clothing and wears a size 6W shoe. (mainly 3T clothing)

  • His Daily Schedule: Wake up around 6:30am, Breakfast @ 8am, Plays and watching cartoons, lunch around noon, Nap Time until maybe 3pm, Dinner around 6pm, Bath Time @ 7:00pm, and Bedtime @ 7:30pm.

Colton,
We just got back from the beach a few days ago and you loved it!!! Your favorite part was swimming in the pool and probably eating ice cream at night. You were such a good little boy and we can't wait to take you on more trips this summer. Over the past few weeks you have become Buzz Lightyear's #1 fan!! You love everything that has Buzz on it and you already have a room full of Toy Story clothes and toys. The new Toy Story 3 movie comes out this month and we can't wait to take you to see it. You're going to love it!! You've also started swimming this year since the weather has finally gotten warmer and you love it. You really could be part fish because as soon as you get in the water you start kicking your legs to get around the pool. You continue to be a very independent little boy who usually doesn't want help doing anything. However, you still love to snuggle and watch cartoons with mommy and daddy. Colton, we love you so much and we are so blessed to have you as our son. I couldn't have ever dreamed of a more perfect son than you. Love you lots!!!

Family Beach Trip 2010: Day 1

We went to Orange Beach a few weeks ago and we had had such a wonderful family vacation. Colton loved getting to swim everyday in the kiddie pool and the big pool. He didn't really care for the sand though. Maybe next year he will like it better!

Most of our mornings and afternoons consisted of playing in the pools and letting Colton swim around in his Buzz floaty and play with his toys in the kiddie pool.

After swimming for a while, we usually would take a mid morning break by the pool. Colton enjoyed drinking his Capri Suns and eating a snack before heading back into the pool.

Beach Memories 2010

Colton, here are a few things that I want to remember about our family beach trip this year:
  • You were such a good boy throughout the entire trip!! You behaved so good every time we went to eat dinner. (Original Oyster House and LuLu's) You loved your little gator that they gave you at The Oyster House and you loved listening to the music at LuLu's!! We took your Thomas the Train Laptop and you played with it almost every night at dinner.

  • We enjoyed ice cream every night! The first night I didn't get you your own cone andyou grabbed mine out of my hand. From then on, you got your very own vanilla ice cream cone every time we went.

  • You wanted to swim in the big pool instead of the kiddie pool most of the time. You loved watching all the older kids swim and jump in the pool. You would laugh nonstop at them the entire time they played beside you.

  • You took advantage of not having your crib at bedtime! After a bath, your bedtime book and milk we took you to the room to go to sleep. Since you weren't confined to a crib, you would sneak out of the room every night with your dinosaur blanket and a HUGE smile on your face. You thought it was great that we would let you stay up a little bit longer to watch cartoons before mommy and you fell sound asleep on the couch.
  • You weren't fond of the sand (odd considering that you love your sandbox at home) but you liked it more and more each time we went down to the beach. You didn't like the sand to be all over your hands, so daddy got you a bucket of water to wash your hands off in the last few times we went. That seemed to help a ton!!

Swimming like a Big Boy!

Colton got to go swimming at Big Daddy's and Nana's house this weekend and he had a ball!!! the child literally thinks that he is a fish and LOVES the water! Nana had bought him this floaty last year and he was the perfect size to use it this time around. He thought he was such a big boy swimming with the floaty. He was kicking his feet the whole time he was in the pool and loves every minute of being in the water.

He was even brave enough to jump off the side to Nana!

A Natural at Playing the Drums

Colton had so much fun playing with Cousin Cody's drum set a few weeks ago. Having never seen a drum set before, Colton walked right up to it and knew exactly what to do. He was a natural!! He was even playing the drums correctly and he actually sounded decent.

McWane Center (Birthday Trip)

We took Colton to the McWane Center in B'Ham on his birthday for a special day with daddy and mommy. We all had so much fun and we can't wait to go back soon! Colton loves all the exhibits and we enjoyed watching him explore all the new things around him.

He loved this exhibit with the balls. I think he could have stood there all day and watched it.

For lunch we headed to the McWane Center Cafe and Colton enjoyed a snack of cheese puffs and juice (his favorite).

Then it was time to explore the Kid's Playgound. He loved the water area and spent most of the time there playing with all the water toys and splashing around.

We then worked on a few puzzles and played with the blocks in the learning center.

He was fascinated with this exhibit.

They had a dinosaur exhibit for older kids but we thought Colton would like it since he loves playing with dinosaurs. He wasn't too fond of the HUGE dinosaurs so he pretty much clung to us while we looked around on that floor.

Playing in the Dig Site.

Daddy and Colton

Mommy and the Birthday Boy!

After visiting the dinosaurs, my two favorite boys decided to be weathermen for the afternoon.

We then visited the top floor which was full of toys just for Colton. He loved playing with the cars, trucks and the train table.

They also had an aquarium downstairs that was full of fish!

Happy Birthday Colton!!! Mommy and Daddy love you soooo much and we are so glad that we got to spend the day with you!
