Wish List #2

Love this camera!!

Update on Colton

I've already shared the following with some of my friends, but I really wanted to post it on here as well to give everyone else an update on Colton.

I had a meeting last night with Early Intervention and it went great! I finally got some questions answered that I've been worried about and it really made me feel so much better.

They told me that the only reason Colton qualified for the program was because of his speech delay. Prayer Answered!!! She said that everything else looked great and that a lot of the signs that Chris and I have noticed are probably all related to his speech delay. As of right now we are going to start a program called “Special Instructions” that works with the child, parents, and grandparents. We will be doing this program twice a month for the next year. The instructor will come into the home and will show us how to work with Colton to get the outcome that we are hoping for. I’m looking forward to this, because at times, I get so frustrated and discouraged because I don’t know how to communicate with Colton. We’re praying that this will help us all communicate with Colton better. He will also be undergoing a hearing test and a speech evaluation in the next 2 weeks. We will then see if he needs speech therapy and if so, he will participate in that once or twice a month as well. The two ladies that I met with last night were so encouraging and understanding. They both believe in the program and feel that we will notice an improvement in Colton within a few months. We’ve made some goals and we are going to work as hard as we can to help Colton achieve these.

Please continue to keep us all in your prayers. I know that it’s going to be a long journey, but I’m looking forward to seeing Colton make some progress. Thanks so much for all the advice and encouragement, it really does mean the world to me.

Chris and I have been so blessed to have such great friends and family in our lives. You will never know how much your words of encouragement and your prayers have meant to our family. Since we've shared our concerns about Colton with so many of you the past few weeks, I have felt the prayers that you have prayed and a heavy burden has been taken off of my shoulders. Thanks for listening to me, for giving me advice and for praying for our family. We love you all soooo much!

These are a few of my favorite things....

1. Nicholas Sparks Books

I've read pretty much everyone of his books and I love them all. I'm looking forward to seeing the movies (The Last Song and Dear John) that are based off these books as well.

2. Chris Tomlin's CD "Hello Love"

Great CD with some wonderful songs!!!

3. Sobe Life Water

Chris and I both like Sobe Life Water. It has a great taste and 0 calories.

4. Chick fil A Chick N Minis's

LOVE these for breakfast!

5. Stacy's Pita Chips (Cinnamon and Sugar)

I discovered these the other day and I love them. They are perfect for an afternoon snack or even for dessert after dinner.
6. Golden Stuff Oreos

Chris isn't a big fan of these, but I really liked them. For some reason, I think their not as high in fat as the regular Oreos. Haha!

Wish List

I adore this necklace from Lisa Leonard Jewelry. It would be great with Colton's name on it! I've never been a big fan of jewelry, however, I think this is simple yet classy and I love it!

John Deere Gator

Colton finally got to ride his Gator that Big Daddy and Nana got for him this past Sunday. He loved it!!! We can't wait until it gets warmer outside so that he can ride on it more. He knows how to make it "go" but he still has a lot of learning to do on steering it.

Computer Time!!

Colton loves to play on the computer!! He will even climb up onto the chair by himself when we are not in the playroom. His favorite game to play is the ABC game on the Fisher Price website.

Colton's Favorite Foods

Here are a few of Colton's favorite foods:

Chick fil A Hashbrowns!

He loves these things!! I usually stop by Chick fil A once during the week and every Saturday morning to get some of these for Colton. He eats every single one of them within minutes.

Bite Size Oreos!!

We have no clue who introduced these to Colton, but he loves them. (Mom said she recently took him to Wal-Mart and he saw the package and had to have them). He even takes them apart and eats each side separately.

Bananas

He has recenlty found a new love for bananas.

Dole Fruit Cups!

He loves the Mixed Fruit, Manadrain Oranges and the Tropical Fruit cups.

Juicy Juice Apple Juice (Juice Box)

Every morning, Colton goes to the refrigerator and gets out a juice box to drink. He thinks he is such a big boy drinking his juice out of a straw!

Dog Bite

After church yesterday morning, we all headed over to Big Daddy and Nana's house for lunch. We had a wonderful lunch of roast, rice, gravy and vegetables, prepared by my wonderful mother! After lunch, we all were sitting in the living room watching Colton play with Bella, when all of a sudden, Colton tripped over Bella and fell on her. Not sure what was going on, Bella snapped at Colton and bit him on the forehead. Thank goodness, she got him where she did because since it was the top of his head, she didn't break the skin at all. (If it would have been anywhere else, she probably would have). It scared Colton at the time, however, he was a brave little boy and after a few minutes in mommy's lap he was good to go. It scared us all to death, but we're just sooo glad that he is okay!

Update on Colton

We had an evaluation Tuesday afternoon at our house and Colton did very good. We are still waiting on being tested for speech (may be March) however, they did show me some great activities to do with Colton that may help him communicate with us more. Thanks for all the prayers!

Colton's First Evaluation

We're getting Colton tested tomorrow afternoon for Early Intervention (speech). Please keep him in your prayers. I'll update Wednesday and let you know how it goes.

Our lazy weekend at home

We had a wonderful weekend at home this past week. It's always so nice to spend the weekend at home with my two favorite boys.

Friday night, I cooked a mean Hamburger Steak, Mashed Potatoes and well some interesting Heart Shapped Biscuts and some terrible gravy. Chris wasn't too impressed with the gravy and neither was I. haha! After dinner and putting Colton to bed, we watched Mall Cop. I didn't even make it through the first 10 minutes before falling asleep. (This happens almost every time I watch a movie)

Saturday morning, Colton and I met Sarah and her precious little girl Byrnn at Chick fil A for breakfast and a playdate. The kids had a great time and it was so nice to catch up with Sarah. (We've been friends since Elementary School, and it's been great getting to experience mommyhood with her) After breakfast, Colton and I headed to Publix for our weekly grocery trip, back home to play in the playroom, then to Taco Casa to pick up lunch and then back home to enjoy an afternoon nap. Saturday night, we played in the playroom, had dinner and then I watched Miss America while Colton was sound asleep and Chris was working on stuff for church the next day.

Sunday morning, we had a wonderful church service, followed by lunch at the church. Once we got home, Colton and I watched Fame (Don't recommend) while enjoying a bag of chips (you should have seen the boy digging into the bag for more.. haha) and snuggling on the bed. After afternoon naps, Colton headed to Big Daddy's and Nana's house for a spend the night party. Chris picked up pizzas and we watched the Grammy's for a very interesting show. All in all it was a fantastic weekend at home and we're already looking forward to our next one in a few days!
