Sens De Vie World Tour

A few weeks ago, one of our friends, Heath Cooper, hosted the Send De Vie World Tour (The Meaning of Life) at the Bama Theater. It involved Illusionist Harris III, Don B and Everlife. It was a great event and we all had so much fun helping Heath throughout the day.

The show was AMAZING!!! Probably one of my favorite parts of the show was where Harris creates snow. Here is a great picture of part of that act!

Pumpkin Carving Time!

Colton spent the afternoon with Big Daddy and Nana this past Sunday, while mommy and daddy headed to church and around town to run a few errands. While over there, they decided to carve Colton's 1st Pumpkin. (Well, Big Daddy and Nana carved it and Colton just watched) Cousin Carter also came over to join in on the fun.

Colton and Cater with the pre-carved pumpkin.

Nana and her Favorite Grandson!

Big Daddy got in on the action. I think this may be the first time he has ever carved a pumpkin. "The things you do for your grandchild"

Colton already distracted by his favorite toy at Big Daddy and Nana's house. Do you see the small truck on the highchair? It happens to be one of his favorite toys. It's two men (dressed in Camo) in a truck with a deer on top. The deer sings (Sweet Home Alabama and another song)and Colton LOVES it. As soon as we get to their house, he wants to go and get it to play with.

18 Months Old

At 18 months old, Colton is large and in charge! Well, we're working out who's in charge ...apparently Chris and I are supposed to be, but Colton sees it differently. Chris and I are in the process of learning what types of discipline works well with Colton. Each day is a learning process, but hopefully soon we will figure something out. At times I wonder if I'm going to be able to raise him up teaching him right from wrong, but in the end I always remember that God will help us through the process.

This month, Colton is learning more and more every day. He is very independent and does not want any help when eating or when trying to figure out how to play with a certain toy. He is ALL BOY, and loves to play with trucks and cars. He loves to climb and is often found on top of the couch in the living room. And he loves to play chase around the house with daddy. (They have become best buds!!) He is still not talking but he grunts when he wants you to look at something or when he wants something. We're getting tubes on the 24th of November, so hopefully we will see a difference then.

Highlights from the past month:

  • His favorite toys this past month: Trucks, Cars, Balls (he likes to bounce them on the hardwood floors)
  • His favorite cartoons this month: Sid the Science Kid, Veggie Tales
  • His favorite foods this month: Applesauce, Popsicles, Oranges, Mac & Cheese, Fish Sticks, Yogurt
  • He loves to play on the computer and will bring you into the playroom when he wants to play on it.
  • If he wants you to get something for him or if he wants to go somewhere with him, he will now get your finger and will take you to either what he wants or the room he wants to go in.
  • He loves the following songs: Itsy Bitsy Spider, ABC's, Old McDonald, Jesus Loves Me
  • He had the Hand, Mouth, Foot Disease this month (Started out with high fever and then got the rash and a few sores on his mouth and hands)
  • He still loves to brush his teeth in the morning and at night.
  • He loves to explore!
  • He loves to play in the kitchen with mommy's pots and pans.
  • He loves to look at pictures and books.
  • He continues to like preschool and is getting better at being dropped off at school in the mornings.
  • He has started shaking his head "no" when he doesn't want something.
  • He loves to snuggle and he tosses and turns in his sleep constantly.
  • He loves to give Millie treats and pat her on the back.
  • Weighs 30 pounds
  • 34 inches long
  • He wears size 4 diapers, is in 2T clothing and wears a size 6W shoe.
  • His Daily Schedule: Wake up around 6:45am, Breakfast @ 8am, Plays and watching cartoons , lunch around noon, Nap Time until maybe 3pm, Dinner around 6pm, Bath Time @ 7:30pm, Bedtime @ 8pm.

Hand, Mouth, Foot Disease

Turns out that Colton has HMFD. It's a common rash/sore disease in young children that is on their mouth, hands, feet and bottom. Sunday afternoon he started running fever (that's how it starts out), so Monday the Whitakers took him to the doctor. At the time, he didn't have a rash or any sores and they thought it was just allergies. When I picked him up Monday night, he already had a few small sores on his mouth and nose. I called the doctor yesterday and they gave him some ointment to go on the rash (we thought it was from chewing on his blanket and from having a runny nose). However, last night after getting Colton out of the bathtub, I noticed it was all over his hands. I quickly checked his entire body and found a few more spots on his bottom and feet. Chris did some research last night and found out about HMFD, so I called the doctor this morning. As soon as I told them that it spread to his hands and feet, they knew what he had. There's nothing that they can do for it and they said it could take at least a week before it disappears. The sores on Colton don't seem to be too bad, so hopefully it won't take long to clear up. Say a special prayer for Colton.

Fever, Allergies, Rash and Tubes

Sunday afternoon, Colton started running a slight fever, had a runny nose and started pulling at his ears alot. We all thought that it was another ear infection, however, after a trip to see the doctor, it turns out that it was just allergies. Poor thing just can't get any better though. Yesterday morning we noticed a rash below his mouth and a few small sores on his nose. I called the doctors office this morning and they said to keep an eye on him the next few days and that if it gets worse we have to bring him in. Hopefully, it's nothing big and the medicine they called in for us will help it go away.
We have also scheduled him to have tubes put in at the Northport DCH on Tuesday, November 24th. Dr. Lake will be performing the surgery and we hope that this will help with all the ear infections that he has been getting.

Sesame Street Live!

Colton spent this past Sunday with Big Daddy and Nana the whole day, while mommy and daddy helped one of our friends, Heath Cooper with an event that he was putting on at the Bama Theater. They had planned on going to the Pumpkin Patch, but since the weather got cold, they decided to take him to see Sesame Street Live in B'Ham. Mom said that he loved it and was just in awe the entire time. Poor thing though, fell asleep about 20 minutes before the show was over. Turns out, he had a slight fever and wasn't feeling so good.
Here are a few pictures of their trip to see Elmo and Big Bird:

Preschool Story

One of Colton's preschool teachers, happens to be my dad's cousin as well, so I asked her today on facebook how Colton has been doing in school since I haven't dropped or picked him up lately. She said that he has been doing great and is getting better at not taking his morning naps. (Most of the mornings, he has fallen asleep at school in the morning) She said that yesterday he was soooo excited to be at school. She said as soon as the other teacher put him down in this room, that he took off running from one side of the room to the other with a huge smile on his face. She said it was like he was saying "I'm here everybody!!". She also said that he loves to be chased, and that if the gate is opened in his room that he takes off!! I'm so glad that he is doing good and that he is making new friends. I can't wait to hear more stories.

Cutest Football Player Ever!!!

Thanks to Amanda Traywick over at Precious Memories for taking some great pictrues of Colton last week. I don't know how we are ever going to decide on which ones to get!

Highlights of Colton

Here are a few new highlights from the past few weeks:
  • He will now bring you the remote control if he wants you to turn the TV on for him.
  • If he wants something to eat or drink, he will grab you by the finger and will lead you to the refrigerator to get him something. He has his own drawer in the refrigerator and he loves to get out either his yogurt cups or fruit cups for an afternoon snack.
  • He loves to play in the nursery at Gordo. As soon as he sees the nursery room, he wants down so that he can run in there to play.
  • He can climb onto just about anything and he thinks it's so funny!
  • He still loves to brush his teeth and he gets so excited when I hand him his toothbrush in the morning and at nighttime.
