Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge Trip

We headed to Gatlinburg the Sunday after Christmas this past year right after church around 1pm. Little did we know that Gatlinburg got some snow and that most of the roads going through Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge were closed due to the ice and snow. We had no trouble getting to Gatlinburg and the traffic wasn’t bad at all, until we took the exit to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Traffic was terrible, due to the ice/snow on the roads. The roads were slick and we finally after grabbing a pizza, made it to our cabin entrance around 7pm. We tried to make it up the hill, however; the roads were pretty bad so we decided to grab a hotel for the first night. I called the owner of the cabin and he informed me, that we should be able to make it to the cabin the next morning because the weather was suppose to be warming up and that most of the ice would be melting. Thank goodness it did and the next day we were able to make it to our cabin!!

Here was a view of the snow from our hotel room. I would say the snow was about 5-7 feet deep in some areas.
