Cruise - Day 3 (Cozumel, Mexico)

Day 3:

We arrived in Cozumel, Mexico on Saturday, August 7th. We departed the boat around 9am and headed to meet our tour guides for the day. We all decided to go on a Dune Buggy Tour around the island and it was so much fun!

Our boat, Carnival Elation (from land)

They had all types of photo booths set up around downtown Cozumel like these:

Dwayne and Janice

Janice and I made our first purchase as soon as we got off the boat. We got these cute hats for $15 each and they came in handy throughout the day. Especially that afternoon when it started to rain.

Yes, they are all applying sunscreen to each other.

Waiting on the tour to begin.

Cozumel was beautiful!! They had so many colorful stores and the plants and flowers were amazing!

And here are the Dune Buggies!!!

Janice, Dwayne and Trisha rode in one buggy, while Chris, Mom and I rode in another one.

Heading to the end of the island for a Mayan Ruin Tour, to see the crocodiles, tour the lighthouse and to relax on a private beach.

Check out how clear that water is!

We were amazed at this end of the island the water had waves and the part where we got off the ship was as still as it could be.

Crocodiles Zone!!!

I thought that we were only going to see small crocodiles, but I was wrong!!! Check out this big daddy one!!

After the crocodiles, we headed to a private beach where some people went snorkeling and others just relaxed on the beach. We all decided to get massages on the beach. I've had massages before and let me just say that this was one of the best ones I've ever had. Chris and Dwayne even decided to get one after we all raved about how great they were. (We got pictures of everyone getting a massage, but they will not be posted on here. haha)

After the massages, we had a Mexican lunch that consisted of chips, salsa and some other type of Mexican food. Let's just say it was okay but we weren't too impressed.

After lunch, we all headed back to the buggies and headed to the light house. It came a flood as soon as we got to the lighthouse and I was afraid we weren't going to be able to go up in it. Well, the rain stop and we were able to go up in it. I'm not sure if it was a good decision at the moment because the steps were slick and steep. I was the only one who ventured up to the top and I didn't even stay a minute before they told me to head back down that the rain was about to start again. The view was wonderful though and I'm so glad I went up in it.

Views from the top of the Lighthouse

Since it had rained a little bit, the roads were muddy and wet. This is what we looked liked when we got back to downtown.

SOAKED!!

We shopped for a while around downtown before heading back to the boat.

These pictures crack me up!

Once on the boat, we all grabbed a late afternoon snack (well more like a lunch) because we were starving!! Then we took naps and rested until dinner time.

The Monkey that greeted us in our room Saturday night.

All in all, Cozumel was great! The weather was perfect, even though it rained becuase it wasn't too hot and we loved getting to see the other side of the island.
